Lake Placid, NY – June 26, 2026 – Jordan Coyle (IRL) rode Ariso to victory Friday in the $45,000 Wölffer Estate Vineyard FEI 3* Jump-off Class at the 2026 Lake Placid Horse Shows (LPHS), Sponsored by The Bainbridge Companies and Presented by Sea Shore Stables. Coyle also placed second on Four Gold as he topped a field of 43 horses at the North Elba Showgrounds. The horse shows feature two weeks of world-class competition, June 23-July 5, sanctioned by the U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF) and International Equestrian Federation (FEI).
Second to try the 16-effort, first-round course designed by Nick Granat, Coyle turned in the first of 14 clean rounds on Ariso. Riding first over the eight-effort tiebreaker course, he turned in another clean round in a blazing time of 35.77 seconds. None of the remaining entries could catch his time, with the closest being Coyle on his other mount, For Gold, on whom he took second place with a clean round in 35.99 seconds.
Nick Dello Joio (USA) finished third with a clean ride in 36.14 seconds on Elvis De L’Othain, and fourth went to six-time U.S. Olympic veteran McLain Ward who finished clean in 36.49 seconds on First Lady.

“With a horse like Ariso, there really is only one plan for the jump-offs,” Coyle said, “so it doesn’t really matter what number you go. Today, he had a really big advantage over everyone else with the long distances between the jumps. He has a massive stride and I was able to leave a few strides out. It was his stride that made the difference in the class.
“This is my first time back here since For Gold won the Grand Prix on the grass field in 2023 so it’s my first time in this new arena and it’s outstanding. Even with the rain we had this morning, it held up super well.”
Also riding to the winner’s circle Friday was Grace McMahon on New Journey in the $1,000 Camp Treetops and North Country School NAL Children’s Hunter Classic. She finished with a score of 173 points. Placing second with a score of 171 points was Lilly Ward on Golden Ticket and third went to Hilton Westcott who had a score of 170 points on Family Affaire.

Other winners on Friday included Hannah Matts on Ezmeralda EH Z in the $5,000 Whiteface Lodge 1.25m Jumper Classic, and Katie Eppinger on Ritual Vitseroel in the As Stables 1.40m Junior/Amateur Jumper class.

Located in the historic Olympic town of Lake Placid, NY, the annual Lake Placid Horse Shows offer two weeks of exciting equestrian competition in a setting no other horse show can match that helps make the Lake Placid Horse Shows, “The Best Two Weeks of a Horseman’s Summer!” LPHS hosts competitions for riders of all levels and ages ranging from young children on polished ponies, to glistening hunters and Olympic veterans aboard their grand prix mounts. Competition starts at 8:00 a.m. daily and features classes running simultaneously in four spectacular show rings.
This year features a special Community Appreciation Day Sponsored by Uihlein Foundation, on Saturday, June 27 with FREE ADMISSION and lots of family fun attractions including the horse show’s annual Doggie Costume Contest Sponsored by Man and Beast, plus airbrush tattoos, balloon animals, a clown, tours of the new showgrounds, selfie stations, games, treats and lots of surprises, in addition to the chance to watch world-class horses and riders compete in classes such as the $32,000 CSI3* Speed Derby Presented by Purina Animal Nutrition and the $25,000 Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) 1.45m Jumper Classic.
Tickets for the horse shows are available at the gate. Admission is free each Tuesday, $8 each Wednesday-Friday, and $12 each Saturday-Sunday, except for Community Appreciation Day on June 27 which is free. Veterans get 1/2 off daily, and children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.

The I Love New York Horse Show follows, June 30-July 5, and features Wednesday’s $5,000 CSI3* Two-Phase presented by North Star Equine Sports Medicine, Thursday’s $45,000 CSI3* Welcome Stake presented by Brianne Goutal LLC, Friday’s $32,000 CSI3* Speed Derby presented by Purina Animal Nutrition and $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby presented by Perfect Products, and Saturday’s The Clothes Horse Parade of Champions leading up to the main event, the $100,000 CSI3* Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix presented by Friends of the Lake Placid Horse Shows. More hunter and jumper classics also take place on Sunday, including the $25,000 Knockers Field 1.45m Jumper Classic presented by the Postage Stamp Farm Foundation.
