Lake Placid, NY – July 2, 2026 – Giavanna Rinaldi (USA) rode Big Beauty Z to victory in the $45,000 Brianne Goutal LLC FEI 3* Jump-off class Thursday at the I Love New York Horse Show, the second week of the 2026 Lake Placid Horse Shows (LPHS), Sponsored by The Bainbridge Companies and Presented by Sea Shore Stables. Rinaldi topped a field of 52 entries at the North Elba Showgrounds.
Rinaldi rode two of the eight horses that reached the jump-off by riding clear over the 16-effort, first-round course designed by Alan Wade, course designer for the 2028 Olympic Games. She was second to try the 8-effort tiebreaker course and she rode Caldaro Van De Oude Heihoef to what turned out to be the fastest jump-off time, 37.19 seconds, but a rail down at the last fence cost her four faults, giving her an ultimate fourth-place finish.
Two rides later, Molly Ashe Cawley (USA) turned in the first clean jump-off ride, taking the lead on Lorona with a time of 38.90 seconds. Rinaldi followed her on course and turned in what proved to be the winning ride, finishing clean in 38.55 seconds on Big Beauty Z.
“My first horse is an 8-year-old and he’s very green,” Rinaldi said. “I thought I would try to get him to learn something. He was doing everything that I asked and he has a really big stride, so I went for the leave-out at the last and ended up just pushing him just a bit through it. A little bit of a green mistake, but he’ll learn from it and come back next time.
“For my second horse, I learned from my mistake. I tried to be a bit quicker everywhere else so I wouldn’t have to make it up at the last line. I ended up doing the same number as the first horse, and she’s naturally fast, as well, so it worked out.”
Ashe Cawley finished second and Christian Coyle (IRL) took third on Chicago CM with the only other clean jump-off ride and a time of 39.95 seconds.

Other winners on Thursday included Hunter Champey on Jisborn, who topped a 38-horse field in the Wolfstone Stables 1.40m Speed Challenge; Devin Ryan on Under Armor Waldstar Z in the Copperline Young Jumpers 1.30m Speed Class; and Rylynn Conway on Bonhomme Richard, who topped a 37-horse field in the Highpoint Stables 1.40m Junior/Amateur Jumper Class.

In equitation classes, Carys Murray, riding Dark Side of the Moon, won the Dover Saddlery/USEF Hunter Seat Medal class, with Violet Tatum, riding Acer K, finishing second. Maggie King, riding Ivano S, won the NHSAA/ASPCA Maclay class, with Rylynn Conway, riding Justify, placing second.

Located in the historic Olympic town of Lake Placid, NY, the annual Lake Placid Horse Shows offer two weeks of exciting equestrian competition in a setting no other horse show can match that helps make the Lake Placid Horse Shows, “The Best Two Weeks of a Horseman’s Summer!” LPHS hosts competitions for riders of all levels and ages ranging from young children on polished ponies, to glistening hunters and Olympic veterans aboard their grand prix mounts.
